The Driftless Art Collective (Dartco) was founded in 1978 as Decorah Regional Arts Council and renamed in 2010.
Our mission is to empower our community to network and foster partnerships, so together we can create stronger art-related events, cultural activities, and educational opportunities in the Northeast Iowa Driftless Region.
What we do
As an organization, we feel we can support the region by having a healthy nonprofit business. We are run by a volunteer board and our board members cross the spectrum of artists and do-ers in the community. We rely on their efforts as well as the advice and support of industry professionals, as well as the support of the communities we serve through:
We offer support to groups seeking Fiscal Sponsorship by providing promotional, administrative, and community-building support to artists and arts groups looking to get off the ground, grow, and improve life in the Driftless Region through Fiscal Sponsorship.
Through support of these groups, conversations with community activities, events, and leaders, we provide Advocacy & Education to arts, cultural, and educational projects. We are here to ensure artists are supported, visible and that communities recognize the importance of the arts and cultural industry from economic and social positions.
We provide Service to artists in their communities, we support artists by providing opportunities to share their talents through exhibitions and in developing their role in the community.
Membership Community We are a membership organization, we rely on the strength, generosity and recognition from members – artists and arts enthusiasts alike – who support our mission. Current memberships include Fiscal Sponsorship Organizations and Exhibiting Artists. We are currently developing additional options.
Leadership & Sustainability In order to grow and thrive, and to help our Projects grow and thrive: we learn. We are developing creative ideas for funding, sustainability, and leadership. As we head into the future, we hope to provide more opportunities to support our coverage area.
